Talking about My Attitude – …Stammering about

Here’s an update my attitude post-The Rabid Whole. I felt compelled to do this one since I was thinking about how sour I sounded at the end of the Part 3 of 3 of Being In A Rock Band video.

More footage of Tearaway Unfolded.

The track “Options” made by myself. Just a ditty I made ages ago, that I don’t see being anything more than it is already.

Talking About My Time In The Rabid Whole (Part 2 of 3)

This is a long one so you might want to get some snacks…

In this second part, I’m recalling my time in The Rabid Whole from end of 2010 to mid-2013. Things got pretty serious.

The song “Metro” from The Rabid Whole’s second album REFUGE is posted at the end of the video.

The live still after the game footage is from a gopro taped to my guitar during a show in Dallas, TX, back in 2013, touring with Dope Stars Inc.

Enjoy my terrible playing of Pinball Quest for NES.
Yes, it’s an emulator. I own the cartridge. I don’t have the means to capture my retro consoles.

“Awesome Mix Vol.2” Suggestions

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favourite movies of this generation for many reasons. Among those reasons is the fantastic soundtrack. The cinematic music is fine for the action, but it’s Starlord’s “Awesome Mix Vol.1” that puts new context into classic tunes for me that I couldn’t appreciate as a teenager.

Listening to my local classic hit radio station has had my imagination anticipate what the movie’s sequel could include in Starlord’s “Awesome Mix Vol.2”. So, I decided to share some of my picks.

Boston – More Than A Feeling

I can’t think of a better song to reminisce about listening to Awesome Mix Vol.1

Trooper – We’re Here For A Good Time

I picture this track being in an RNR-type of situation with the Guardians. Or even a return of morale to the team.

ABBA – Knowing Me, Knowing You

Starlord wallows in despair in front of a twin-sunset as some relationship, with maybe a teammate, falls through for a time.

Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb

Floating in space either alone, or in his ship, The Marion, which has run out of fuel and they’re waiting on help from, perhaps Nova Core.

Red Rider – Lunatic Fringe

Montage of the Guardians hunting down Nebula, or even Thanos.

The Ronettes – Be My Baby

Starlord and Gamora have a chance to dance with each other, which probably ends with Starlord’s ego ruining it.

Bill Landford & The Landfordaires – Run On For A Long Time

Can be used similar to Red Rider’s song, but I picture this being the last track in the movie when The Marion takes off to hunt down Thanos.

Harry Chapin – Cat’s In The Cradle

A great track that can be used similar to the ABBA track, but since Starlord never knew his father, applies better here.

Now, the music in the first movie didn’t necessarily match what was happening on screen, but I believe the tunes can definitely touch on themes relating to Starlord’s character.

Even if none of these tracks make it to Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2, I’m sure Starlord’s new mix will be pleasant to our ears.

Boom.

P.S.

“Some Kind Of Wonderful” (by, I think, Grand Funk Railroad) would be a great song as well. Maybe an Annie Lennox track.

My Year-In Report of Gaming and Music

If you know me well enough, music and gaming are my top 2 favourite things ever. This past year has been a consumption of media as much as I see stupid memes on Facebook of that dumb angry cat. I think I’ve become a digital hoarder of sorts.

MUSIC
In a sea of randomness of music out there, there’s been literally a select few that have been worthy of a purchase. Now not all of these are 2012 releases, but they are new to my ears this year.

Lazerhawk – “Visitors” (80’s Sci-Fi inspired instrumental stuff. RAD!)
The Birthday Massacre – “Hide And Seek” (Catchy dark-rock/industrial-pop music.)
Hanzel Und Gretyl – “Born To Be Heiled” (Awesome German-parody-esc metal, that brings a smile to my face.)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Soundtrack (by Michael McCann)

…and that’s about all that has tickled my fancy…

This year has also seen the release of my band The Rabid Whole’s album “REFUGE”, and my EP of covers. Both of which I’m particularly proud to have varying degrees of participation in. The Rabid Whole playing in Austin, Texas, was a spectacular experience. One I will never forget. Not to mention the other festivals we’ve had the pleasure to play this year.

Being in The Rabid Whole has been quite the journey this year as well. I developed the skill of bringing MIDI-controlled lights to The Rabid Whole’s live show, as well as other computer automated tasks for our keyboardist, Chalsey. It’s been a learning experience both technically, and socially as we learn more about each other and work as a team. This line-up of The Rabid Whole has achieved more things in this last year than any other year prior to it. The winds of change for the band will no doubt bring new experiences for us all in 2013.

GAMING
2012 has been crazy in re-living classics, living classics for the first time, and catching up with recent releases. Mind you, I still have to find the time to PLAY some of these games. Some have been a steal-of-a-deal (and I’m not talking about piracy).

CONCLUSION
I always have time for music, but immersing myself in a good game is quite the challenge these days. But 2013 should prove to be quite the challenge yet as The Rabid Whole continue to grow, while I discover new music, and satiate my inner escapist. Maybe my writing skills will improve too. 😛

Boom.

Bathroom 063

OK. So, Bathrooms 62, 63, and 64 are a trilogy, I realize, since I'm wearing the same thing in all three. Because of the colours, I'm reminded of Orange, and Cream. YUM!
